Do You Need Time to Stand And Stare?

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Leisure by William Henry Davies is a good poem for this time of year when everything seems to be snowballing faster and faster towards Christmas and New Year.

So if you’re in need of a bit ofย  me therapy here are few ideas to help you relax. Unless of course your partaking in NANO in which case the below might have to wait until the first of December!

1. Just stop, switch everything off and have a cup of tea. I love doing this when I have the chance.

2. Read at least one article from the magazines you keep buying but never get chance to finish.

3. Start a good book.

4. Go for a walk and take your camera. Promise yourself you won’t come back without taking at least five photos, I guarantee you’ll notice more when looking for a photo opportunity, who knows the photo might even spark an idea for a story.

5. Cake. Buy it or make it however you get it cake always has to help just a little doesn’t it? It goes very well with number 1, 2 or 3 above or even just a favourite film.

What are your favourite ways to relax?
